[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Song Kang-ho is heading to drama after 32 years since his debut, teaming up with director Shin Yeon-sik.
On the 30th, production company Slingshot Studio announced that Song Kang-ho will appear in the new drama series (written and directed by Shin Yeon-sik) "Samsik-i Samchon" (Uncle Samsik).
The drama is set in the early 1960s and depicts the turbulent era through the passionate desires and bromance between Uncle Samsik and Kim San, portraying the story of love, trust, or suspicion between Uncle Samsik, who fed three meals a day even during the war, and the elite Kim San.
Song Kang-ho reunites with director Shin Yeon-sik, with whom he worked on the films "1 Seung" and "Geomi Jip" (Spider's Web). Director Shin was responsible for directing, writing, and producing the first volleyball film "1 Seung," and participated in the screenplay and co-production of "Geomi Jip," directed by Kim Ji-woon.
The production company stated, "The protagonist Samsik of the 10-episode drama series 'Samsik-i Samchon' is a character with a diverse narrative," adding, "We expect Song Kang-ho to breathe life into the role with his unmistakable vivid presence."
"Samsik-i Samchon" is currently in scheduling negotiations.
