"Control Chuseok Prices" Lotte Mart Offers Discounts on Domestic Pork

From the 1st to the 12th of next month
Up to 36% discount on domestic Samgyeop and Moksim

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Lotte Mart announced on the 30th that it will offer up to 36% discounts on domestically produced Samgyeopsal (pork belly) and Moksim (pork neck) from the 1st of next month until the 12th, the end of the Chuseok holiday, to ease the burden of Chuseok shopping baskets.

On the 1st and 2nd of next month, Lotte Mart will sell ‘domestically produced Korean pork Samgyeopsal and Moksim (100g)’ at about 20% off for all customers at all stores except Jeju branch, priced at 2,620 won. From the 4th to the 12th, the peak Chuseok season, the same products will be offered at a 20% discount to EL Points members, and when paying with event cards, customers can receive an additional 20% consumer coupon provided jointly by the Korean Pork Fund and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, allowing purchase at 2,099 won.

To prepare for this discount event, Lotte Mart’s meat team secured over 100 tons of stock in advance through nationwide wholesale markets since July. Additionally, by processing raw materials at Lotte Mart’s independently operated ‘Fresh Quality Innovation Center,’ they reduced distribution stages and enhanced price competitiveness.

Meanwhile, starting from the 1st of next month, Lotte Mart will begin the main sale of Chuseok gift sets at all stores. Along with popular ‘cost-effective gift sets’ such as Korean beef sets under 100,000 won and fruit sets under 30,000 won, which were favored during the pre-order period, various options including ‘eco-friendly gift sets’ and ‘premium gift sets’ will be offered.

Im Jeongwon, Lotte Mart’s pork product planner, said, “Even though this is the first holiday after the endemic phase, shopping for Chuseok is still burdensome these days. We prepared this discount event so that the nation’s favorite food, Korean pork Samgyeopsal and Moksim, can be enjoyed affordably by the whole family,” adding, “We hope everyone has a bountiful Hangawi with delicious pork.”
