[Seoul District News] Dongdaemun-gu to Host Autumn Sympathy Concert at Dapsimni Film Media Art Center on September 3 Featuring Popera Group POMAS, Pop Jazz Trio Yoon Ik-hyung and Lee Ru-yeju, Jazz Haegum Group Saebyeok Nodle ... '2022 Jongno Shorts Video' Contest
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) will hold an ‘Autumn Sympathy Concert’ to stimulate the emotions of residents at 2 p.m. on September 3 at the Dapsimni Film Media Art Center to mark the beginning of autumn.
The ‘Autumn Sympathy Concert’ features the popera group POMAS, composed of vocalists with impressive broadcasting histories including JTBC’s ‘Phantom Singer,’ SBS’s ‘Fantastic Duo,’ and ‘Asia’s Got Talent,’ as well as extensive stage experience both domestically and internationally. They will perform a variety of pieces including musicals and movie OSTs.
Additionally, the pop jazz trio ‘Yoon Ik-hyung and Iruyeju’ will deliver an interactive performance designed to make the genre of jazz approachable. Their setlist includes album release tracks, standard jazz, famous pop songs, and Korean popular songs rearranged in jazz style, conveying empathy and comfort.
Notably, the concert will showcase a new genre called ‘Hazz,’ which combines the traditional Korean instrument haegeum with jazz. The unique music performed by ‘Saebyeok Nodle’ promises to offer the audience a delightful time to build everyday memories and feel the autumn atmosphere.
The concert is open on a first-come, first-served basis without prior reservation. A variety of genres are prepared so that families with children, seniors, and everyone can enjoy it freely and for free. For more details, contact the Culture and Tourism Division.
Kim Myung-chan, head of the Culture and Tourism Division, said, “We are holding the Autumn Sympathy Concert to capture the refreshing autumn breeze and stimulate the emotions of our residents. Since the performance will be held at our cultural complex facility, the Dapsimni Film Media Art Center, we hope visitors will also experience the various attractions of the center along with the concert.”
The ‘Autumn Sympathy Concert’ is part of the ‘Visiting Cultural Yard’ project, a cultural performance initiative. Since June, the ‘Visiting Cultural Yard’ has been conducting various genre performances at multi-use or welfare facilities, receiving positive responses from residents, and marks Dongdaemun-gu’s first step toward becoming a cultural special zone.
Jongno-gu (Mayor Jeong Moon-heon) is launching a campaign to promote local attractions and culture and arts using short-form content (videos about 60 seconds long), which has recently gained great popularity among younger generations.
This is the ‘2022 Jongno Shorts (#Shorts) Video Contest,’ seeking videos that capture the charm of Jongno in a short and distinctive way.
Anyone interested can participate individually or in teams of up to three people, with the theme being ‘Tourism and Culture of Jongno.’
Participants can freely produce vertical videos up to 60 seconds long in any format such as vlogs, music videos, or documentaries, and submit the files along with application forms via email to the person in charge by September 30. Works including English subtitles and narration will receive additional points for global promotional effectiveness.
Jongno-gu will select the final winners through internal judging based on suitability, artistry, originality, popularity, and usability, with the results announced on October 11. The grand prize winner will receive 2 million KRW, the excellence award winner 1 million KRW, and four merit award winners will each receive 500,000 KRW along with certificates. The award ceremony will be held on October 14.
The winning works will be uploaded to the Jongno-gu website, social media channels, and the YouTube Jongno TV channel, and used as promotional materials for the district. Detailed information is available on the district office website.
Jongno-gu is also holding a shorts contest for district employees as well as the general public. Videos up to 60 seconds in free format on major projects or ideas are accepted, aiming to introduce them to residents later and create opportunities for communication.
Mayor Jeong Moon-heon said, “We aim to widely promote hidden tourist spots and rich cultural and artistic resources throughout the region by soliciting shorts videos that fully capture Jongno’s charm. We ask for much interest and participation in this newly launched shorts contest.”
