[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] In response to the court's provisional injunction decision, the People Power Party held a party caucus on the 27th and decided to maintain the emergency committee system, which has sparked criticism within the party. Floor leader Kwon Seong-dong emphasized that "we must accept the decision."
On the morning of the 29th, Floor Leader Kwon met with reporters at the National Assembly and said, "When a result comes out according to the will of the majority of lawmakers, even if it is contrary to one's own will, accepting it is the attitude that members of any organization or group should take."
Due to the court's decision to suspend Emergency Committee Chairman Joo Ho-young's duties, which made it difficult to maintain the existing emergency committee system, the People Power Party held a party caucus on the 27th and decided to establish a new emergency committee by amending the party's constitution and regulations.
However, there are also many voices within the party opposing the decision to maintain the emergency committee system. Floor Leader Kwon said, "During the party caucus process, there were opinions both in favor and against on certain issues," adding, "It does not help the party if one opposes the conclusion simply because it is contrary to their own will."
Within the party, there are also many calls for Floor Leader Kwon to resign, as he is seen as a major cause of the current situation due to the leak of conversations with President Yoon Seok-yeol. When a reporter asked about his position, Floor Leader Kwon remained silent.
