[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Samsung Life Insurance announced on the 28th that it has launched the ‘Insurance Claim Finder Service,’ which allows customers to view claimable and unpaid insurance benefits based on their treatment history.
The Insurance Claim Finder Service is a customer-centric service that covers everything from insurance benefit inquiry to claim submission. The company explained that it was developed to bring about a paradigm shift in insurance services and improve customer convenience by having the insurer proactively find insurance benefits that customers previously had to search for themselves.
The Insurance Claim Finder Service consists of two main parts. The first is the ‘Insurance Benefit Estimation Service,’ which estimates claimable insurance benefits based on the customer’s surgery, illness, and treatment history without any review or paperwork. The second is the ‘Hidden Insurance Benefit Finder Service,’ which notifies customers of insurance benefits that have not been received despite the occurrence of claimable events.
While other companies’ previously launched insurance claim finder services only allowed inquiries for fixed-amount insurance benefits, Samsung Life Insurance’s service enables inquiries for unclaimed and unpaid insurance benefits, including both fixed-amount and indemnity insurance.
This is the first in the industry, allowing customers to inquire about insurance benefits over a much broader range.
Specifically, the ‘Insurance Benefit Estimation Service’ first uses information from the National Health Insurance Service to check the customer’s medical treatment history. Then, by entering additional information about the treatment history, customers can find out the estimated claimable insurance benefits. Notably, during the input process, simply entering keywords such as ‘headache’ or ‘back’ will search for related surgeries and disease names, making the service easy to use.
In the ‘Hidden Insurance Benefit Finder Service,’ customers can check for unclaimed insurance benefits such as dormant or expired benefits, and the procedures and methods for claiming them are guided.
The Insurance Claim Finder Service is available to any customer with a contract with Samsung Life Insurance through the company’s website and mobile app, and estimated insurance benefit inquiries and claim applications can also be made through assigned consultants.
The Insurance Claim Finder Service is also meaningful as the first commercialized service developed by Samsung Life Insurance’s in-house startup. The first in-house startup team selected the item in May last year, organized the system, and collaborated with the insurtech company ‘Soltus’ to enhance technical completeness.
Meanwhile, the in-house startup recently completed the selection process for its fourth team, and previously selected startups are also focusing on developing solutions to improve customer convenience.
A Samsung Life Insurance official said, “The Insurance Claim Finder Service can be used easily without review or paperwork, and it is expected to contribute to enhancing customer rights through realizing insurance value via the service.”
