[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] It is the ‘rookie storm’ of Choi Hye-jin (23) and An Na-rin (26).
On the 27th (local time), the two players stood in a tie for first place by one stroke (16 under par 197 strokes) after the third round of the LPGA Tour CP Women’s Open (total prize money $2.35 million) held at Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club (par 71, 6,546 yards) in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Paula Reto (South Africa) is in third place (15 under par 198 strokes), and No. 3 Nelly Korda (USA) and others are chasing from a tie for fourth place (14 under par 199 strokes).
Choi Hye-jin started from a tie for second place, two strokes behind, and collected six birdies (one bogey). After recovering from a bogey on the 1st hole with a birdie on the 3rd hole (both par 4), she showed her strength with consecutive birdies on the 9th and 10th holes, a birdie on the 12th hole (par 4), and again consecutive birdies on the 15th and 16th holes. She relied on accurate shots, missing the fairway only once and the green twice. This is Choi Hye-jin’s first chance to win on the US stage in her 18th tournament appearance. Her best personal results this year were 3rd place at the Lotte Championship in April and the US Women’s Open in June.

An Na-rin, who was the leader the previous day, recorded 3 under par with four birdies and one bogey. She made four birdies in 12 holes but was unable to reduce her score after a bogey on the 13th hole (par 3), which was regrettable. Her putting count of 31 held her back. She has maintained her position at the top of the leaderboard for two consecutive days and is looking for her first win in her debut season. An Na-rin’s best result this year was 3rd place at the JTBC Classic in March. Korda added 3 under par to pressure the leading group by two strokes.
In Korea, Kim A-rim (27) improved her ranking to a tie for 6th place (12 under par 201 strokes) by reducing five strokes. Yang Hee-young (33) is tied for 20th place (8 under par 205 strokes), and Jeon In-ji (28) is tied for 25th place (7 under par 206 strokes). On the other hand, 2019 champion Ko Jin-young (27) and Park Sung-hyun (29), who could not finish their rounds due to bad weather followed by sunset the previous day and thus could not confirm qualification for the final round, were cut off.
