[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that on the 26th, it held the 3rd Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ethics Policy Forum at Post Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul, together with the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) and the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA).
The forum was launched last February to promote discussions on the ethical development and utilization of AI. Thirty experts from various fields including industry, AI, ethics, education, legal systems, and public sectors are serving as the first-term forum members.
At the forum, Scatter Lab, which developed the AI chatbot 'Iruda,' Alchera, which develops AI-based video recognition solutions, and Lytton Technologies, which provides AI-based writing solutions, shared their experiences regarding the considerations and efforts involved in developing AI services.
Jongyun Kim, CEO of Scatter Lab, presented the final draft of the 'Scatter Lab AI Chatbot Ethics Checklist.' Scatter Lab is currently conducting an open beta test of 'Iruda 2.0,' a relationship-oriented AI chatbot capable of casual conversations like a friend.
Research Director Mingguk Cho of Alchera announced the results of the technical reliability verification of the AI-based wildfire detection solution. Alchera develops and provides anomaly detection solutions, identity recognition solutions, and others using video recognition technology.
Se-young Lee, CEO of Lytton Technologies, presented the purpose and draft of the 'Lytton AI Writing Tool Ethics Checklist.' Lytton Technologies offers 'Lytton,' a writing assistance solution based on natural language processing technology and large-scale AI.
The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to compile the forum outcomes and corporate difficulties to publicly release candidate checklists by sector?such as chatbots, crisis detection, and writing?that other companies can generally utilize.
Yeol Eom, AI Policy Officer at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "Efforts by companies themselves to practice AI ethics are crucial to develop AI products and services that the public can trust and use without hindering innovation."
Director Eom emphasized, "We will actively support creating a self-regulatory environment that resonates on the ground by comprehensively considering the level of AI technology, domestic and international trends related to AI ethics, and stakeholders' voices."
