[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Hyundai Home Shopping is partnering with Gangdong District Office in Seoul to engage in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management activities.
Hyundai Home Shopping announced on the 26th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Gangdong District Office to promote the recycling of paper cartons. The signing ceremony, held the previous afternoon at Gangdong District Office, was attended by Hyundai Home Shopping President Im Dae-gyu and Gangdong District Mayor Lee Soo-hee, among others.
Through this MOU, Hyundai Home Shopping has committed to actively participating in the pilot project for separate collection of paper cartons, which is a key initiative by the Ministry of Environment, together with Gangdong District Office. The plan is to lead the improvement of community awareness, highlight the importance of resource circulation, and take the lead in spreading a recycling culture. Hyundai Home Shopping will recycle paper cartons separated by Gangdong residents to produce 'card wallet DIY kits' and conduct educational programs for children aged 4 to 6 at local daycare centers. By having children experience making card wallets themselves, the initiative aims to help future generations recognize proper recycling culture and participate in upcycling activities.
Gangdong District Office will support voluntary citizen participation by installing promotional materials at the district office and each community service center to inform the public about the correct method of separating paper cartons. Hyundai Home Shopping plans to carry out various eco-friendly activities over the next year in collaboration with Gangdong District Office, including recycling paper cartons into premium tissue paper.
Im Dae-gyu, President of Hyundai Home Shopping, stated, "Rather than short-term eco-friendly activities, we will continue ESG management activities that help improve awareness of resource circulation in the long term." He added, "Through close cooperation with Gangdong District, we plan to actively promote both online and offline so that local residents can voluntarily participate in environmental protection."
