[Public Officials' Property Disclosure] Land Minister Won Hee-ryong Reports 1.97 Billion KRW with No Real Estate Holdings

Increased by 220 Million Won Compared to Last Year

The property of Won Hee-ryong, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, was found to have increased by about 220 million KRW compared to last year, reaching approximately 1.97 billion KRW. He did not own any land or buildings in his name, and most of the assets were under his spouse's name.

According to the high-ranking public officials' asset registration details announced in the official gazette on the 26th, Minister Won's total assets were reported as 1,969,056,000 KRW (including himself, spouse, eldest daughter, second daughter, and parents).

This is an increase of 220,087,000 KRW compared to the amount reported when Minister Won resigned as Governor of Jeju in August last year (1,748,969,000 KRW).

At that time, Minister Won participated in the People Power Party presidential candidate primary and borrowed 230,306,000 KRW from financial institutions to prepare the primary deposit. After the primary ended, he was reimbursed for this amount, reducing his debt by 225,547,000 KRW, which increased his assets.

The largest portion of Minister Won's assets is deposits. He reported deposits totaling 1,053,970,000 KRW, including 235,160,000 KRW in his own name and 741,940,000 KRW in his spouse's name. This is an increase of 37,390,000 KRW compared to last year (746,581,000 KRW).

This increase is largely due to the expiration of the lease contract for an officetel in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul (47.79㎡, deposit of 300 million KRW), which was leased under his spouse's name, and the return of the deposit to the spouse's bank account.

Regarding real estate, it was found that he owns one detached house under his spouse's name in Arae-dong, Jeju City, valued at 750,961,000 KRW. The price of this house has not changed since last year.

Minister Won also reported leasing two officetels (75.72㎡ and 28.71㎡) in Dohwa-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, under his spouse's name.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the larger officetel is leased with a deposit of 20 million KRW and a monthly rent of 2.1 million KRW, while the smaller one has a deposit of 10 million KRW and a monthly rent of 850,000 KRW. It is reported that the smaller officetel is used by Minister Won's two daughters as a studio and for other purposes.

Additionally, a 2021 K8 Hybrid vehicle (33,380,000 KRW) owned by the spouse was reported.
