[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Kim Dong-seon, Executive Director of Hanwha Hotels & Resorts and the third son of Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-yeon, is set to expand the equestrian business in Germany.
According to the distribution industry on the 25th, Hanwha Next recently established a corporation for the equestrian business in Eschborn, Germany. Hanwha Next was spun off in May from the equestrian business division of Hanwha Hotels & Resorts. The company explained that the corporation was established to fully launch the business in Germany, where the equestrian industry is well developed. The newly established German corporation was created to produce and train high-quality horses for resale. They also plan to operate riding arenas.
Executive Director Kim, who has been active as an equestrian athlete since 2001 during his studies in the United States, oversees equestrian-related businesses within Hanwha Group. Hanwha produces horses at the Aewol Ranch in Jeju and holds auctions annually. They also operate the Royal Saddle Riding Club in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, providing riding education and other services.
A representative from Hanwha Hotels & Resorts said, "This corporation was being prepared even before the establishment of Hanwha Next," adding, "We plan to nurture overseas horses and expand related distribution networks to popularize equestrian sports."
