Chuseok Seasonal Products and Personal Service Fees Intensive Management

Changwon Special City Aims to Stabilize Prices Ahead of Chuseok

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam has designated the period until September 12 as an intensive price stabilization management period ahead of the Chuseok holiday and is entering focused management of major items expected to see price increases by operating a comprehensive price countermeasure situation room.

To this end, the city has designated a total of 64 key items for focused management, including 38 daily necessities such as agricultural, livestock, and fishery products for Chuseok peak season items like apples, pears, eggs, and beef, and 26 personal service items. Price monitoring personnel will be utilized to carry out continuous surveillance activities. At the same time, price information will be posted on the price information system to publicly disclose the current price status at all times, thereby inducing the suppression of price increases.

Additionally, in five key areas including commercial order, personal services, and agricultural, livestock, and fishery products, a total of 20 inspection teams will be formed by the responsible departments to intensively crack down on unfair commercial practices such as hoarding, false origin labeling, and illegal measuring devices to prevent consumer damage in advance. Reports of unfair price increases such as price collusion will be accepted at all times and corrective actions will be taken to eradicate violations of fair trade that undermine price stability.

During this period, the city will issue 45 billion KRW worth of Changwon Love Gift Certificates (Nubijeon) to promote local consumption, while simultaneously expanding the purchase limit for discounted Onnuri Gift Certificates.

Furthermore, a refund event for Onnuri Gift Certificates will be held at 10 traditional markets within the jurisdiction. Changwon Mall, an online shopping mall for agricultural and marine specialty products in Changwon, will hold a ‘Chuseok Gift Set Special Exhibition’ offering up to 28% discounts and provide a 5,000 KRW discount coupon to the first 500 customers.

Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, “During the intensive price management period, we will conduct joint crackdowns on unfair commercial practices and continuously analyze and monitor price trends of peak season items to strengthen the price monitoring system. We will also make every effort to stabilize prices during the Chuseok holiday through the activation of good price stores and traditional market use.”
