It is reported that the party leadership is proceeding with additional procedures
Rep. Cho's side claims to have placed unlisted stocks in a blind trust and that the spouse has also resigned as CEO
[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Jo Myeong-hee, a member of the People Power Party who faced conflict of interest allegations, resigned from the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee on the 24th.
Jo conveyed his intention to resign to the People Power Party leadership, and the party's floor leadership is reportedly proceeding with additional procedures for his replacement.
Jo, an expert in satellite information, was recruited as a talent in the science field in the 2020 general election and was elected as a proportional representative lawmaker. In 2003, he founded the geographic information system company 'GeoCNI.' Conflict of interest suspicions arose when it was revealed that his family operates this company. However, Jo's side stated that to prevent conflicts of interest, he entrusted all his unlisted stocks in a blind trust and that his spouse also resigned from the CEO position of the company.
Previously, the Democratic Party of Korea argued that if Jo continued his activities on the Land Committee, there would be a possibility of conflict of interest and that he should be replaced.
