[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The Cultural Heritage Administration is hosting the ‘2022 Stone, Wood, and Earth - Iscarsah International Expert Workshop Academic Seminar’ on the 30th and 31st at the Lotte City Hotel Daejeon. Experts from 12 countries including South Korea, Turkey, the United States, and Italy will share lectures on the preservation and repair of architectural heritage, overseas cases, and international trends. A representative from the Cultural Heritage Administration’s National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage stated, “This academic seminar, which collects overseas cases and trends related to the preservation and repair of architectural heritage and listens to the opinions of domestic and international experts, is expected to enhance understanding of the international principles of architectural heritage preservation and to provide an opportunity to reflect on the preservation environment of modern and contemporary architectural heritage.”
On the 30th, lectures by experts will be held under the theme ‘Principles and Standards of Architectural Heritage Repair.’ Former and current presidents of Iscarsah (International Scientific Committee on the Analysis and Restoration of Structures of Architectural Heritage), as well as representatives from the Cultural Heritage Administration, the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, and the Foundation for the Promotion of Traditional Architectural Repair Technology, will participate in keynote presentations and comprehensive discussions. The keynote topics include ▲ Iscarsah’s principles on architectural heritage repair ▲ Recent issues concerning architectural heritage repair ▲ The revision of Korea’s Cultural Heritage Repair Act and its significance ▲ Preservation principles of architectural heritage and repair in Korea ▲ Research and application of architectural heritage repair.
On the 31st, under the theme ‘Preservation and Repair of 20th Century Architectural Heritage,’ former and current vice presidents of Iscarsah, professors from Sungkyunkwan University, Dong-A University, and others will engage in keynote presentations and comprehensive discussions.
