[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Dong-guk] The ‘Taehwagang Egret Birdwatching Tour,’ held for the first time this year, was safely concluded, with most participants expressing ‘satisfaction’ with the event.

Ulsan City held the ‘Migratory Bird Tour Bus to Taehwagang Egret Birdwatching Tour’ event twice on August 8 and 11, during the summer vacation, for students. A total of 23 elementary school students participated in the event.

The students visited the lower reaches of Taehwagang (Myeongchon-dong, Buk-gu), the middle reaches (Samho Migratory Bird Park), the upper reaches (Bancheon Bridge Sail Village), Seonbawi Park, and the Migratory Bird Information Center.

They observed egrets resting and ‘preening’ with binoculars at the confluence of Taehwagang and Dongcheon, above the Samho bamboo forest, and along the riverbank.

At Bancheon Bridge and Sail Village, they observed the feeding activities of herons, great egrets, little egrets, spot-billed ducks, and freshwater cormorants.

They were also ‘lucky’ to see the endangered wild species level II ‘White-necked Stilt,’ a resident bird of Taehwagang, resting.

On the rooftop of the Nam-gu Migratory Bird Information Center, they observed egrets in the bamboo forest and experienced 5D video.

An official from Ulsan City said, “The first operation of the Ulsan migratory bird tour bus was safe and the participants were satisfied with the exploration,” adding, “In September, we are preparing a program to find resident birds that can be seen year-round by the waterside.”

In a survey about this event, participants mostly expressed satisfaction, with ▲It was fun and interesting (74%) ▲Would participate again and recommend to acquaintances (74%).
