[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo positively evaluated the resumption of the Ulchi Exercise after three years as a "process of national normalization."

On the 22nd, Mayor Hong stated on his Facebook, "Starting today, the Ulchi Exercise is resuming after three years."

He said, "It is truly fortunate that the country is going through a normalization process as the Ulchi Exercise and the South Korea-U.S. joint military drills, which had not been conducted due to watching the North, are being resumed," adding, "I hope the country stabilizes quickly and the internal disruptive forces within the party are settled so that the Republic of Korea becomes peaceful."

Earlier, through his Facebook, Mayor Hong criticized internal party discord, saying, "Only petty and trivial issues are being clung to, and the same side is busy pointing fingers at each other in disgraceful politics."
