Yoo So-yeon and Lee Bo-mi, Inaugural Champions of the Simone Asia Pacific Cup Golf Team Event

Individual Event: Philippine Superal Champion... So Yeon Ryu 2nd Place

So-yeon Ryu (32) and Bo-mi Lee (34) claimed the first team championship at the Simone Asia-Pacific Cup Golf Tournament, a women's golf team competition in the Asia-Pacific region with a total prize money of $750,000.


In the final third round held at Pondok Indah Golf Course (par 72, 6,806 yards) in Jakarta, Indonesia, the 'Korea 2 Team' pairing of So-yeon Ryu and Bo-mi Lee won with a score of 11 under par. The tournament featured stroke play over three days to determine individual and team winners, with 44 players from 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific region participating.


So-yeon Ryu recorded seven birdies and two bogeys, shooting five under par for the day and finishing with a total score of 9 under par 207. Bo-mi Lee finished the tournament at 2 under par 214 after losing three strokes. So-yeon Ryu and Bo-mi Lee are active on the LPGA Tour and the JLPGA Tour, respectively.


Bo-mi Lee said, "I really enjoyed playing on the same team with So-yeon over the three days," adding, "I think our 'chemistry' led to the great result of winning the team championship."


So-yeon Ryu commented, "Many players from the Asia-Pacific region perform well on the LPGA Tour, but the women's golf tours in this region have not developed as much. I believe this tournament is a meaningful step forward for the future of women's golf in the Asia-Pacific region."

In the individual competition, Princess Mary Superal of the Philippines took first place with a total score of 12 under par 204, earning the winner's prize of $100,000 (approximately 130 million KRW). Superal also teamed up with Pauline del Rosario of the Philippines (5 over par 221) in the team event to finish as runners-up with a combined score of 7 under par.


So-yeon Ryu not only won the team event but also finished solo second in the individual competition, three strokes behind. Lydia Ko (New Zealand) placed third with 8 under par 208, and Bo-mi Lee ranked sixth.


The 'Korea 1 Team,' consisting of Hyo-joo Kim (27) and Yu-min Hwang (19), finished tied for sixth place in the team event with a total of 1 under par. Individually, Hyo-joo Kim tied for eighth place (1 under par 215), and Yu-min Hwang placed 12th (even par 216).
