[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups will submit an innovation plan for its affiliated public institutions to the Ministry of Economy and Finance by the end of this month.

On the 19th, Cho Joo-hyun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, held a policy council meeting with the heads of 12 institutions, including the Small and Medium Business Corporation and the Korea Technology Finance Corporation, to discuss the public institution innovation plan and support and cooperation measures for the '7-Day Together Festival.'

The public institution innovation plan was prepared as part of the 'New Government Public Institution Innovation Guidelines' announced by the Ministry of Economy and Finance last month to support the establishment of innovation plans for each institution. It focuses on streamlining five key areas (functions, organization and personnel, budget, assets, welfare) to improve productivity and efficiency of public institutions.

Minister Cho urged, "Please faithfully implement the innovation policy in line with the new government's public institution innovation direction," and added, "Please also prepare detailed measures to improve public service satisfaction by reforming conventional work processes in policy funds, venture investment, and other areas."

Public institutions discussed setting core functions for each institution, as well as conducting in-house research projects and forming and operating task forces to select functions for transfer to the private sector and consolidation. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups plans to review and adjust the appropriateness of the innovation plans established by each institution and submit them to the Ministry of Economy and Finance by the end of this month.

Additionally, to ensure the successful hosting of the 7-Day Together Festival starting on the 1st of next month, they prepared and shared institution-specific support, inter-agency cooperation, and promotional plans.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups is promoting integration with public institutions by branding a "Strong Unified Policy Community" to mobilize the professional capabilities of each institution under a common goal.

Vice Minister Cho stated, "Until now, public institutions under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups lacked organic network functions between institutions due to the unique nature of their work." He emphasized, "We are striving to unite the professional capabilities possessed by institutions under the common goal of supporting SMEs, venture companies, and small business owners."
