[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] As the era of high inflation intersects with the era of personalized content, cases of diversifying income through various activities are increasing.
According to a recent survey conducted by the job portal Incruit targeting 881 office workers, 4 out of 10 workers (41.4%) have tried side jobs to earn additional income. The trend of so-called 'N-jobbers' who do not settle for their company work but continue multiple concurrent jobs is on the rise.
In this 'N-jobber heyday,' various services from startups that help build income pipelines for these workers are also gaining attention. They enable convenient income generation at desired times and methods without investing long hours, and allow individuals to leverage their capabilities beyond their main job to achieve self-realization and generate profits.
Indent Corporation operates Spray, a global short-form video review commerce platform that provides a social networking service (SNS)-style service composed of video reviews. Users can browse video reviews like on SNS, discover products that suit their tastes and situations, and make purchases.
Users who upload reviews receive monetary compensation proportional to their contribution when product sales occur through their video reviews. While professional creators traditionally generated income through content production, Spray allows anyone to easily and conveniently earn income just by posting video reviews. Well-made video reviews act as content that stimulates users' purchasing desires and have become a new channel for income generation.
Indent Corporation also operates 'VReview,' an AI-based video review service targeting B2B clients, currently serving over 3,400 companies.
More people are also diversifying their income as creators by leveraging their knowledge and expertise. The online and offline class platform 'Taling' aims to create a job ecosystem where individuals can generate income and even new jobs through their talents, breaking away from a standardized occupational world.
At Taling, not only professional instructors but also general tutors from various fields are active. They provide job training, hobbies, and know-how sharing through online classes. Currently, about 40,000 tutors are conducting lectures in 200 fields. According to Taling, the most searched keyword by customers in Q2 2022 was dance, followed by personal color, vocal, makeup, and Excel.
As the activities of N-jobbers become more prominent, job matching services that support them in experiencing various jobs more easily and conveniently are also popular. The deep tech company Enterprise Blockchain operates the job matching platform 'Yogig,' which allows N-jobbers and gig workers to search and compare job information posted on various gig work platforms within Yogig. It also provides reviews from users who have performed the jobs and career management functions to help users match jobs smoothly. Currently, Yogig has about 4,000 reviews from people who have actually worked on various gig work platforms.
Earlier this month, Yogig newly updated the location-based job matching feature called 'Neighborhood Mission.' Users can easily find available jobs by automatically detecting their current location without having to specify a place when using the app. Additionally, they can search for N-jobs near them by category, date, and time slot in detail.
The platform 'Around,' which allows users to create and sell goods reflecting their personality and tastes, also made its debut this year. Officially launched by Snaps, an online photobook printing company, Around is a taste curation POD (print-on-demand) commerce platform.
Users can easily create and sell various products on Around as long as they have their own artwork such as photos or designs. Creators, artists, designers, writers, YouTubers, as well as individuals or brands, can all showcase their capabilities without restrictions and generate income through this. Around provides a one-stop fulfillment service that handles ordering, product manufacturing, packaging, and shipping all at once, helping users start without the burden of initial capital.
