Untact Era Delivery Food Culture ... Delicious Food, Basic Seasoning → 'Trust'
Early Chuseok, Intensive Inspection of Ancestral Ritual Items and Restaurants in Multi-use Facilities
Gumi City will conduct a comprehensive inspection of delivery food specialty stores and seasonal holiday food products.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Province, has decided to conduct a comprehensive inspection from the 22nd of this month until the end of September to ensure the soundness and safety of ingredients and cooking environments for delivery food, a food culture changed by COVID-19.
Although the heat is easing, ahead of Chuseok, which has arrived earlier than usual this year, restaurants in multi-use facilities and ritual goods stores will also be inspected together.
Due to the shift in trends caused by COVID-19 toward contactless (untact) and video contact (ontact) consumption based on online platforms, there is a need for pinpoint inspections on the hygiene and safety of ingredients and cooking environments when ordering non-face-to-face using mobile phones or computers.
The city plans to focus inspections on the cooking environment, soundness of ingredients, and appropriateness of storage conditions through a joint effort of public officials, the Food Hazard Prevention Task Force composed of citizen monitoring groups, and consumer food inspectors.
Most delivery food operators prepare food based on taste and trust, but neglecting these aspects could lead to serious accidents. Strict measures will be taken against violations that cause distrust among citizens.
Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, when the risk of food poisoning is high due to hot and humid temperatures, a comprehensive inspection will be conducted on ritual goods, seasonal holiday foods, and food preparation and sales establishments in facilities frequently used by returning visitors and citizens to prevent food-related accidents in advance.
For seasonal holiday foods with a history of violating standards and specifications or suspected of being unsuitable, tests will be requested from the Gyeongbuk Health and Environment Research Institute, and unmarked or unreported products will be seized and disposed of, mobilizing all monitoring personnel to ensure citizens' food safety.
Consumers collect information, place orders, and pay for goods, while suppliers respond with taste and trust that meet the information provided?this is the foremost requirement of the contactless (untact) and video contact (ontact) non-face-to-face consumption culture.
At a prior meeting with hygiene association groups regarding citizens' food safety, Mayor Kim Jang-ho of Gumi City stated, “Food is the most important basic element of human life among clothing, food, and shelter. Therefore, the city will significantly expand projects supporting the revitalization of the local economy and dining culture based on food safety,” urging the active role and participation of business associations.
