Special Safety Inspections, Inconvenience Report Center Operation, and Rotational System for Sales Businesses
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gyeongsangnam-do will conduct a special safety inspection from the 22nd to September 2nd to prevent gas and electrical facility accidents and ensure stable supply within the province.
The province will form an inspection team jointly with energy-related organizations such as Korea Gas Corporation and Korea Electrical Safety Corporation to inspect eight gas and electrical facilities, including city gas supply facilities, gas filling stations, and gas sales offices.
City and county governments will carry out self-inspections of facilities within their jurisdictions.
The inspection team and city/county governments plan to check ▲ gas pipeline defects and gas leaks ▲ proper maintenance of gas facilities and operation of safety devices ▲ proper management of LPG containers ▲ neglect of fire hazard factors ▲ and the working conditions of safety managers.
For minor violations or deficiencies found during inspections, the province will immediately order on-site corrections or repairs before the Chuseok holiday, and businesses requiring facility improvements will be specially managed until improvements are completed.
They will listen to difficulties, inspect sites to discover unreasonable system improvements, and share best practices.
Additionally, to strengthen the gas accident response system and ensure smooth gas supply, city and county governments and city gas companies will operate a gas supply inconvenience reporting center.
During the Chuseok holiday period, a rotation system will be implemented for LPG sales businesses to alleviate consumer inconvenience and support gas supply at gas sales offices.
Using institutional websites, social media (SNS), and electronic display boards, safety usage rules for gas and electrical facilities will be promoted to encourage residents to pay attention to gas and electrical safety management themselves.
Park Sooncheol, Director of the Energy Industry Division, said, “Gas and electrical facilities can lead to major accidents even from minor personal carelessness, so prevention through prior inspections and public awareness is necessary. We will do our best to ensure energy supply during the Chuseok holiday period through thorough safety inspections and close cooperation with related organizations.”
