Did They Entrust a SIM Chip to a ‘Goyang-i’... 27 Mobile Store Employees Pocketed 37 Million Won Using Customer Information

Did They Entrust a SIM Chip to a ‘Goyang-i’... 27 Mobile Store Employees Pocketed 37 Million Won Using Customer Information Busan Sasang Police Station.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A mobile phone store employee was caught after using customers' SIM chips to make small payments totaling about 37 million won from 27 people and pocketing the profits.

On the 19th, the Sasang Police Station in Busan announced that they had investigated A, a man in his 20s who works at a mobile phone store, and sent him to the prosecution on charges of fraud.

According to the police, A received mobile phones from B (a man in his 50s) and others who visited to inquire about unpaid mobile phone bills from March to April. Using the SIM chips, he accessed pre-obtained personal information to make small payments for content usage fees and cultural gift certificates, then deposited the money into his own account.

Victim B received bills amounting to tens of thousands of won for content usage fees and small payments on a newly activated number he did not use, and went to the mobile phone store to complain.

It was investigated that A took out the SIM chip from B’s phone himself, claiming he would check the phone directly, and committed the crime again.

Following reports from the victims, the economic team of Sasang Police Station booked A on fraud charges, investigated him, and transferred the case to the prosecution in July.
