[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, attended the ‘Flood Victim Support Goods Delivery Ceremony’ held on the afternoon of the 18th at the annex square of the district office, hosted by Gwanak Nonghyup and Seoul Milk Nonghyup.

On this day, Gwanak Nonghyup and Seoul Milk Nonghyup donated goods worth approximately 8 million KRW, including bottled water, instant rice, and sterilized milk. The donated items will be distributed to vulnerable residents in flood-affected areas within the district through the Yeongdeungpo District Social Welfare Council.

Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “We are grateful for the meaningful donation made for the vulnerable residents going through difficult times,” and added, “We will do our utmost to support damage relief and recovery for the swift restoration of daily life for all district residents.”

Seodaemun District (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) announced that participants of the 8th World Korean Politicians Forum visited the Seodaemun Prison History Hall on the afternoon of the 18th.

Hosted by the World Korean Politicians Council and sponsored by the Overseas Koreans Foundation, this forum is being held in Seoul from the 16th to the 19th of this month, with 53 Korean politicians from 11 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Kazakhstan, and Mexico participating under the theme “Beautiful Koreans, Dreaming of Peace.”

Mayor Lee Seong-heon of Seodaemun District welcomed the Korean politicians and introduced the history hall.

Seoul Community Chest of Korea Secretary General Shin Hye-young (left in the photo) delivered the support fund for the Safe Line Protection Project to Dongdaemun-gu at 11 a.m. on the 18th and took a commemorative photo with Lee Pil-hyung, the mayor of Dongdaemun-gu.

Dongdaemun District (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced that it received a donation of 35 million KRW from the Seoul Community Chest of Korea (Secretary General Shin Hye-young) on the morning of the 18th at Dongdaemun District Office to promote the ‘Safe Line Protection Support Project.’

The Safe Line Protection Project provides funds to quickly respond to low-income groups, vulnerable populations, and those in welfare blind spots amid the increasing number of single-person households and the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, which have deepened social polarization. The project aims to resolve emergency situations and help maintain daily life.

The support amount is distributed differentially based on household size: 200,000 to 400,000 KRW for single-person households, and 600,000 to 1,000,000 KRW for households with four or more members.

Mayor Lee Pil-hyung of Dongdaemun District expressed gratitude, saying, “We thank the Seoul Community Chest of Korea for carrying out this project, which is like a refreshing rain on a parched land amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and steep price increases, making daily life even more difficult for low-income residents.” He added, “We will ensure that the project funds are properly delivered to those in welfare blind spots.”
