According to Japan's NHK on the 18th, as of 6:15 PM, 25,534 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Japan.
This surpasses the previous record of 254,03 cases recorded on the 10th. On this day, 21 out of the 47 prefectures, including to, do, fu, and ken, reported their highest number of daily infections.
The number of new COVID-19 deaths was also 287, marking the third highest ever.
