"Since You'll Diet Anyway, Do It Happily" Lotte Mart's 'Zero Calorie' Sales Up 70%

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Lotte Mart is capturing the attention of dieters with 'zero calorie' products.

On the 19th, Lotte Mart announced that three exclusive zero-calorie beverage products recently launched are gaining popularity by emphasizing 'cost-effectiveness' and taste. The pouch-packed lychee-flavored 'Chamomile Relax Zero' and the refreshing 'Zero Sparkling Ade Lime·Peach' are all 1.5ℓ large-capacity products. Prices range from 1,290 to 3,000 KRW. These three products have sold more than 20,000 units within three weeks since their release at the end of July.

Low-calorie dessert products that fit the Low Food trend are also popular. Lotte Mart’s dessert private brand (PB) 'Sweet Hug' offers low-calorie ice creams such as '330kcal Pint Mint Choco' and '330kcal Pint Dark Choco.' Although the content of milk fat and sugar has been reduced, they are popular for their gelato-level chewy texture and rich chocolate flavor. A wider variety of low-calorie and zero-calorie products can be found on Lotte Mart Mall within Lotte ON.

Recently, among consumers in their 20s and 30s, the trend called 'Eodahangda (If you are going to diet anyway, let’s diet happily)' has been sweeping, highlighting a lifestyle that enjoys healthy management and dieting through low-sugar, low-calorie foods that do not compromise on taste or health. As the summer vacation season passes, customer demand for refreshing zero-calorie beverages has also increased. Lotte Mart’s zero-calorie beverage sales in June and July this year grew by more than 70% compared to the previous year.

Kim Se-hong, MD (Merchandiser) of the Lotte Mart Food & Beverage Team, said, "In line with the newly spotlighted healthy eating trend, we have prepared exclusive zero-calorie beverage products for summer 'dieters.' We will continue to introduce various zero and low-calorie products as well as functional food and beverage products that help health."
