[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] A man who stabbed an acquaintance with a weapon and fled after arguing over not being invited to a birthday party was caught by the police.
On the 18th, the Seongbuk Police Station in Seoul announced that they had arrested a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on suspicion of attempted murder.
Mr. A is accused of stabbing his acquaintance Mr. B with a weapon at a karaoke bar in Seongbuk-gu around 10 p.m. on the 14th. Mr. A, upset about not being invited to another acquaintance Mr. C's birthday party, went to the karaoke bar while intoxicated.
Mr. A started arguing with Mr. C, asking why he was not invited to the birthday party. Mr. B, who was sitting next to Mr. A, tried to stop the argument but instead got involved in the fight. At the end of the argument, Mr. A stabbed Mr. B with the weapon he had and fled.
After receiving a report, the police arrived at the scene, confirmed Mr. A's description, and searched the nearby area. The police arrested Mr. A near the scene at around 7:10 a.m. on the 15th.
A police official said, "We cannot disclose the condition of Mr. B, who was stabbed with the weapon," and added, "We are investigating the detailed circumstances of the incident."
