[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] Gukjeon Pharmaceutical announced on the 18th that it has broken ground on its first specialized production base for 'electronic materials.'
The production plant is located in Eumseong, Chungbuk. The plant is scheduled to begin full-scale operations in the second half of the year, with major products including △ semiconductor materials, △ display materials, △ raw materials for secondary battery electrolyte, and △ precision chemical materials.
The company expects the new plant to serve as a catalyst for business diversification. Gukjeon Pharmaceutical, which has been engaged in the active pharmaceutical ingredients business for 50 years, recently secured two patents related to secondary battery electrolytes and obtained ISO9001 certification for the quality management system of its Materials Technology Research Institute.
Jongho Hong, CEO of Gukjeon Pharmaceutical, stated, “The new electronic materials plant will become a key hub capable of playing a central role in high-growth markets such as semiconductors, displays, and secondary batteries. We are currently working closely with our clients.”
Meanwhile, the planned new electronic materials plant will include △ a production building (4 floors above ground), △ an administration building (4 floors above ground), △ warehouses for materials, raw materials, and products, △ an indoor hazardous materials storage facility, and a waste storage facility.
