'Apple Expert' Mark Gurman, Citing Sources
Max Weinbach Also Offers Similar Observations
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Apple, which unveils new smartphone models every September, is reportedly planning to hold the iPhone 14 launch event about a week earlier this year, on September 7 (local time), according to Bloomberg on the 17th (local time).
Mark Gurman, Bloomberg's "Apple expert," cited sources familiar with the matter and reported that along with the new Mac (notebook), both high-end and low-end iPads, as well as three Apple Watch models, are expected to be unveiled.
Apple has traditionally released new iPhones in stores about 10 days after the announcement, but some stores have reportedly been instructed to prepare for the new product launch on October 16. Last year's Apple event was held on September 14.
There have been earlier speculations that this year's Apple event might be held earlier. IT tipster Max Weinbach also predicted, citing sources, that the next Apple event would take place on September 6 or 7.
According to Bloomberg, the iPhone 14 unveiling is expected to be held online rather than offline. Accordingly, employees have started recording parts of the presentation to be used in the online event over the past few weeks.
Meanwhile, Apple previously held the developer event "Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2022," where new features of the iPhone software iOS16 were introduced, offline for the first time in three years this past June.
