[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Ulsan Ulju-gun Family Center will launch the ‘Ulju-gun Multilingual Interpretation and Translation Service’ for local multicultural families and foreigners starting next month.
This service is designed to support interpretation and translation related to frequent issues in multicultural families in the area, such as communication between family members, children’s school life, and use of public institutions, to help marriage immigrants settle in Korea.
On this day, the center appointed 10 marriage immigrants who completed 60 hours of interpretation and translation training and obtained the professional qualification of ‘Judicial Interpreter and Translator’ as guest interpreters and translators.
The service languages include a total of nine languages: Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, English, Filipino (Tagalog), Cambodian, Uzbek, Myanmar, and Thai.
The service operates by prior reservation, and applications or inquiries can be made to the Ulju-gun Family Center.
The center plans to promote the service not only to local multicultural families but also to public institutions, schools, and organizations in the future.
Center Director Im Dae-wan said, “Marriage immigrants who can speak various languages have completed training and obtained professional qualifications through their efforts,” and added, “We hope the residents will show great interest so that they can fully utilize what they have learned.”
