[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Former leader of the People Power Party, Lee Jun-seok, has filed a main lawsuit following his injunction request to suspend the effectiveness of the party's transition to an emergency committee.
On the 18th, the Seoul Southern District Court announced that Lee filed a lawsuit on the 16th, the day before the injunction hearing, against the People Power Party seeking a declaration of invalidity regarding the resolutions of the Supreme Council, the Standing National Committee, and the National Committee.
The case has been assigned to the Civil Division 11 single judge panel, and the trial date has not yet been set.
Meanwhile, Lee personally attended the injunction hearing held the previous day at the Seoul Southern District Court Civil Division 51 (Chief Judge Hwang Jeong-su). After the hearing, he expressed his determination to continue the lawsuit, stating, "Even if it is dismissed, it is naturally a situation that must be contested in the main trial."
The injunction court stated that it would not make a decision on the day of the hearing, saying, "We will carefully consider and make a decision soon."
A decision is expected to be made as early as this week.
