[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin, Legal Affairs Specialist] The High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Agency (HCIA) created a Corporate Identity (CI) symbolizing the institution and unveiled it on the 18th.
HCIA also revealed its slogan: "Serving the People, Upholding Justice, Writing Integrity Anew."
On the morning of the same day, HCIA held a press briefing at the briefing room on the first floor of Building 5, Government Complex Gwacheon, to announce the new CI and slogan.
The CI depicts two hands supporting the air, symbolizing the HCIA members who cherish the people and pursue impartial and independent investigations. The color chosen is blue, the central color used in the CIs of the courts and prosecution.

Kim Jin-wook, the head of HCIA, who directly announced the CI, said, "Until now, HCIA has used the Taegeuk pattern used by government ministries as its CI, which has been criticized as inappropriate for an independent agency with political neutrality like HCIA. We have long refined a CI that reflects HCIA's identity, aspirations, and core values, and I am pleased to finally announce it today."
Kim added, "The CI work took longer than expected due to repeated careful consideration and gathering opinions from internal members and external advisory bodies. However, creating the CI and slogan is also a task that the inaugural HCIA must undertake."
He continued, "The CI unites our members as one and externally shows what kind of institution HCIA is. It is appropriate to say that today marks a new beginning for HCIA. From today onward, we will practice the slogan of upholding justice and writing integrity anew, and we are determined to show how HCIA is changing."
Following Kim, Kim Jung-yeol, HCIA's Planning and Coordination Officer, explained the specific meaning of the CI and slogan: "We symmetrically shaped the initial consonant 'ㄱ' of 'Gongsucheo' (HCIA), 'Gukmin' (the People), and the 'fair and balanced investigation' HCIA pursues, expressing that HCIA serves the people and aims for fair, balanced, and independent investigations."
Kim further explained, "The CI symbolizes the two hands of HCIA members who cherish the people and pursue impartial and independent investigations to eradicate corruption in the public service. It also images a tree rooted in the land called the people, growing firmly while fulfilling its duties toward the values of justice, human rights, and integrity."
The slogan, selected through a contest among HCIA employees, embodies HCIA's aspirations and core values as guardians of justice, human rights, and integrity serving the people, HCIA stated.
Since March last year, HCIA has been developing the CI symbolizing the agency's vision and philosophy in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Design Promotion under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
