Selected Sponsors for the '2022 AI Graduate School Symposium'
Keynote Speech by Lee Hong-rak, LG AI Research Institute CSAI
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] LG is partnering with the Ministry of Science and ICT to expand the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem through public-private-academic cooperation.
On the 18th, LG announced that it will participate as the first private company sponsor in the Ministry of Science and ICT-hosted '2022 AI Graduate School Symposium.' The event is co-hosted with domestic AI specialized organizations such as the AI Graduate School Council, AI Innovation Hub, and Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation.
This symposium, held over two days from the 18th to 19th at COEX in Seoul, is an event to share the achievements of AI graduate schools aiming to nurture global AI talent and to establish a public-private-academic exchange and cooperation system. The event will see large participation from faculty and students of 16 AI graduate schools nationwide, eight major LG affiliates, large corporations such as Samsung Electronics, and recruitment managers and research staff from promising AI startups.
The keynote speech marking the start of the event will be delivered by Lee Hongrak, LG AI Research Institute CSAI (Chief AI Scientist) and one of the world's top 10 AI scholars, on the topic of "Learning Methods for Developing AI Agents that Assist Humans in Performing Complex Tasks."
In the afternoon, chaired by Lee Jihyung, Dean of the AI Graduate School at Sungkyunkwan University, a panel discussion on "Strategies to Become a Global AI Leader" will be held with participants including Professor Choi Jaesik of KAIST, Professor Song Giltae of Pusan National University, Director Min Okgi of ETRI, and Group Leader Kim Sehun of Kakao Brain. Following this, representatives from companies selected as excellent cases of industry-academia cooperation between AI graduate schools and enterprises will present case studies, including Kim Seunghwan, Vision Lab Head at LG AI Research Institute, Ha Jungwoo, Head of Naver AI Lab, and Choi Jungki, Director at KT.
LG AI Research Institute, together with the Ministry of Science and ICT, will also hold the 'AI Graduate School Challenge' to enhance the practical capabilities of AI graduate school students.
The AI Graduate School Challenge, held for the first time this year, is a competition where each graduate school forms teams to solve problems using real industrial data provided by companies. Since July, 165 teams from 14 graduate schools have competed on the theme of "Predicting Antigen-Antibody Reactions for Vaccine and Immunotherapy Development," with the 'CVML' team from Chung-Ang University winning the first championship.
In addition, LG will operate a large-scale booth at this event for recruitment consultations and technology demonstrations.
Eight major LG affiliates, including LG AI Research Institute, LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Innotek, LG Energy Solution, LG Household & Health Care, LG Uplus, and LG CNS, will actively showcase their latest AI technologies and engage in activities to attract outstanding AI talent at the integrated LG booth.
In the evening, a networking event town hall meeting will be held, gathering over 120 key figures from government, specialized institutions, academia, and industry to discuss the establishment of an organic public-private-academic cooperation system in the AI field and the expansion of industry-academia cooperation.
