Jinju Gaechon Arts Festival, Call for Participants for the 15th National Parade Competition Teams 2018 National Parade Competition

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, is recruiting participating teams for the "15th National Costume Parade Competition," the highlight of the Gaecheon Arts Festival event held from the 27th to November 3rd, which boasts history and tradition, until the 31st of this month.

Anyone residing in the Republic of Korea, including citizens, public institutions, organizations, schools, companies, and clubs, can participate in the Costume Parade Competition. Participating teams should symbolically express the city’s vision, "Prosperous Jinju, Happy Citizens," or themes related to Jinju’s history, figures, folk arts, specialties, the image of Jinju as an industrial and cultural city harmonizing tradition and modernity, or the 21st-century development and progressiveness of local public institutions and companies.

Applications can be submitted by downloading the application form from the Jinju City website, filling it out, and then visiting the Jinju City Tourism Promotion Division or sending it via email by the end of this month. The final participating teams will be selected and notified in September. Participation rewards will be provided differentially based on the scale, content, and budget of the participation.

Additionally, through combined judging by a professional judging panel and a citizen judging panel, six outstanding teams (1 grand prize team, 2 excellence award teams, and 3 merit award teams) will be awarded a total prize money of 19 million KRW.

This year’s National Costume Parade Competition will begin with the parade departure declaration ceremony on October 29th, starting inside Jinju Fortress, proceeding through Chokseokmun Gate and Insa Square, performing at Central Square, and then marching to Pyeongan Square, providing an exciting spectacle for citizens and tourists.

A city official stated, “We ask for the citizens’ great interest and active participation in the ‘National Costume Parade Competition’ so that the Gaecheon Arts Festival, the origin of the local comprehensive arts festival, can be reborn as a festival worthy of its reputation.”
