[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province conducted COVID-19 vaccinations for homeless people at Suwon Station Jeongnanumteo on the 17th to prevent the resurgence of COVID-19.
On this day, Suwon City, together with medical staff including doctors and nurses from Paldal-gu Public Health Center, administered vaccinations to about 80 people who agreed to be vaccinated, including homeless individuals, residents, and workers at homeless shelters.
Earlier, from the 20th to the 25th of last month, Suwon City promoted COVID-19 vaccination to homeless people in cooperation with homeless shelters and received pre-registration for vaccination. Paldal-gu Public Health Center then verified the vaccination history of applicants, including the number of doses and vaccine types, and selected the eligible individuals.
A city official stated, "Although the government expanded the fourth COVID-19 vaccination target to include all people aged 50 and over, people aged 18 and over with underlying conditions, and residents and workers of homeless shelters, homeless people living on the streets were excluded from the target, leaving them in a blind spot for vaccination. We will strive to protect the health of homeless people and minimize the spread of infection amid the resurgence of COVID-19."
