Goheung-gun, All-Out Effort to Attract Urban Residents at Return-to-Farming and Rural Living Expo

Operation of Counselling Booths for Returning to Farming and Rural Living, Customized Consultations for Urban Residents

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do participated in the ‘2022 Return-to-Farming and Rural Living Happiness Expo’ held at Ilsan KINTEX, Gyeonggi-do from the 11th to the 14th, promoting the attraction of urban residents.

This expo was jointly hosted and sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korea Tourism Organization, with participation from 181 local governments and organizations nationwide, held amid great enthusiasm.

At the expo, Goheung-gun operated a consultation booth for return-to-farming and rural living, providing customized consultations for urban residents wishing to return to farming and rural areas. They also introduced Goheung’s differentiated youth policies and announced the recruitment for a rural experience fam-tour scheduled for next month, drawing positive responses.

In particular, the expo offered tailored consultations on various support policies such as ▲start-up fund loans for return-to-farming and rural living entrepreneurs ▲living experience in rural areas ▲business succession support ▲settlement incentives for returning youth (couples) ▲housing repair costs for returning youth ▲land lease fees for young farmers, creating an opportunity for communication with urban residents.

A Goheung-gun official stated, “To establish a ‘foundation for a population of 100,000 in 10 years’ under the 8th elected administration, we plan to accelerate population inflow by establishing a comprehensive annual plan for stable local community integration of return-to-farming and fishing residents, promoting the Goheung youth ‘Return Goheung’ project, and laying the groundwork for returnees.”

They also said, “We plan to prepare various infrastructure by building a stay-type return-to-farming and fishing complex education infrastructure using the local extinction response fund and creating a pleasant and safe residential environment.”

Goheung-gun plans to participate in the 「2022 A Farm Show Start-up Farming and Return-to-Farming Hometown Love Expo」 held at the Seoul aT Center from the 24th to the 26th, promoting consultations for attracting urban residents as well as Goheung-gun’s specialty products and tourism resources.
