[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Woo Sang-ho, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, urged the Yoon Seok-yeol administration to "stop the targeted audits on the Board of Audit and Inspection."

On the 17th, Chairman Woo stated at the Emergency Response Committee meeting, "I consider the commissioned audits aimed at terminating the terms of fixed-term public officials to be quite serious."

This was a criticism of the recent audit initiated by the Board of Audit and Inspection on the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.

He said, "(Choi Jae-hae) is the head of the Board of Audit and Inspection, and he was also appointed by the previous administration, yet he is leading targeted audits to shorten the terms of fixed-term public officials, which is contradictory," adding, "I hope Chairman Choi will respond."

He continued, "How happy can it be to live as someone's lackey? Stop the commissioned audits. It would be good to show the image of an independent Board of Audit and Inspection faithful to its original mission," he said.

Park Hong-geun, the floor leader, also pointed out at the meeting that "after mobilizing the Board of Audit and Inspection to scrutinize the attendance of (Jeon Hyun-hee), Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, and finding nothing, they did not forget the pettiness of holding the entire staff hostage," and "now they are hinting at a targeted audit on the Statistics Korea to investigate statistical suspicions from the previous administration."

He said, "It is a pitiful sight to see the exhausted national momentum being sought through investigations and retaliation," adding, "The Yoon administration's reckless actions are escalating beyond a crisis of the administration to a crisis for the people and the entire nation."
