[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party and considered one of the next party leadership candidates, criticized the 'Hwaktamyeong' (definitely Lee Jae-myung as party leader) atmosphere within the Democratic Party of Korea, saying it "will trigger the Democratic Party's Galapagos syndrome."

On the 16th, Kim said on Facebook, "It was already predictable when they said they would even amend the party constitution to protect a single member, Lee Jae-myung."

On the same day, the Democratic Party's party convention preparation committee passed a plan to amend Article 80, Paragraph 1 of the party constitution, which includes the suspension of party positions upon indictment. Regarding this amendment, criticism has arisen within the Democratic Party that it is intended to protect Lee, the party leader candidate.

Kim said, "Yesterday, Lee reportedly expressed his intention that if he becomes party leader, all major party issues such as special investigations or impeachment would be decided by party member votes." He added, "The stated reason is to guarantee party members' participation, but the real intention seems chilling: to mobilize 'Gaeddal' (dog daughters), who blindly follow Lee Jae-myung, to eliminate all internal checks and balances that hinder his presidential ambitions."

He pointed out, "It is clear that 'Hwaktamyeong' will keep the Democratic Party trapped in the Galapagos party, still imprisoned by arrogance and dogmatism." He warned, "If the 'Gaeddal'-style fandom politics continues, it is obvious that the Democratic Party will once again head toward political ruin."

Kim also mentioned the People Power Party currently receiving criticism from the public, saying, "I am truly sorry that our People Power Party is being scolded by the people right now." He referred to the party's transition to a steering committee and former leader Lee Jun-seok's injunction request. He said, "We will manage this pain well again and surely raise the banner of conservative reform that the people desire." He added, "We will quickly reorganize and become a responsible party that can bring hope and inspiration to the lives of the people."
