[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] Humasis announced on the 16th that it recorded sales of 114.8393 billion KRW and operating profit of 69.83284 billion KRW in the second quarter of this year. These figures represent growth of 337.7% and 470.1% respectively compared to the same period last year. Net profit also increased by 561% to 62.7996 billion KRW.
On a half-year basis, the company also posted rapid growth. It recorded cumulative sales of 441.21764 billion KRW and operating profit of 272.99347 billion KRW in the first half of the year. These figures increased by 848.5% and 1029.6% respectively compared to the previous year, setting a record for the highest first-half performance. Cumulative net profit also rose approximately 1037% to 222.0231 billion KRW compared to the same period last year.
A Humasis representative explained, “At the beginning of this year, the spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant caused a surge in demand for COVID-19 diagnostic kits nationwide in hospitals and clinics, and contracts with the Public Procurement Service contributed to the increase in first-half performance.” He added, “In overseas markets, in addition to existing markets in Europe and North America, expansion into South America and Southeast Asia drove performance growth.”
The company plans to maintain production capacity of its products in line with domestic and international demand for COVID-19 diagnostic kits as the spread of COVID-19 variants continues in the second half of the year. Furthermore, it will focus on securing continuous growth momentum and expanding its global market share by diversifying its business areas, including recently entered blood glucose diagnostics, molecular diagnostics, biochemical diagnostics, and remote diagnostics.
