[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Shim Deokseop, the governor of Gochang County, announced regarding the region's biggest issue, the 'Gochang General Industrial Complex Corporate Attraction,' that "we will expedite the completion process as much as possible and attract eco-friendly ESG companies."
On the 16th, according to the county, Governor Shim held a press briefing on the 2nd floor situation room of the county office regarding the 'termination of the Dongwoo Farm to Table occupancy contract' and officially announced the contract termination.
Governor Shim stated, "Due to difficulties in meeting strengthened environmental conservation measures such as large-scale water supply and wastewater treatment, the contract was terminated through amicable consultation with the company," and added, "I offer consolation and apologies to the residents of Gosu-myeon and the local community who have been concerned about the environment during the corporate attraction process."
He continued, "We will take this matter as a lesson and develop the Gochang General Industrial Complex into a future-oriented eco-friendly industrial complex."
To this end, the county announced follow-up plans including ▲ Completion of the Gochang General Industrial Complex = Establishment of a future-oriented development plan based on actual corporate demand surveys and prompt completion approval ▲ Resident communication and transparent administration = Establishment of an administrative system that thoroughly informs residents from targeted industries for corporate attraction to the actual companies to be attracted ▲ Attraction of environmentally conscious ESG companies = Attraction of eco-friendly companies that do not burden the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve area ▲ Preparation of detailed standards for investment attraction subsidies.
Governor Shim Deokseop said, "We will mobilize all administrative power to ensure good companies settle in Gochang, provide necessary and sufficient support to existing companies, and build a virtuous cycle structure that leads to increased local consumption in the Gochang area."
He also pledged, "We will listen to the voices of various entrepreneurs and assist in the areas they need so that they come to Gochang."
He emphasized, "Ultimately, through corporate attraction, we aim to revive the economy of small business owners and all residents," and added, "We will create a vibrant economic city and a sustainable eco-friendly future city to realize a better life for the residents."
