[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Lee Jung-jae has added another trophy with 'Squid Game.'
On the 14th (local time), Lee Jung-jae won the Best Actor in a Streaming Series award at the HCA (Hollywood Critics Association) TV Awards 2022 held in Los Angeles, USA.
Lee Jung-jae was nominated alongside Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), Adam Scott (Severance), Henry Cavill (The Witcher), Jason Bateman (Ozark), Penn Badgley (You), and Tom Ellis (Lucifer), and was selected as the winner.
Through his agency, Lee Jung-jae expressed, "I sincerely thank you for giving me this great award. 'Squid Game' is a very fortunate work for me. I am truly grateful to the many viewers around the world who have loved, supported, and enjoyed it."
He continued, "I personally look forward to a new acting life unfolding with 'Squid Game.' I have come to think that I should continue to work on fun and meaningful projects. Season 2 is waiting, so please give us lots of support."
Lee Jung-jae gained worldwide popularity by playing the lead role of Seong Gi-hun in 'Squid Game,' which was released in September last year. He achieved the remarkable feat of winning Best Actor awards at major U.S. award ceremonies such as the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), Critics' Choice Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, and Critics' Choice Super Awards as the first Asian actor, and was also nominated for the prestigious Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor.
The Netflix series 'Squid Game' won the Best International Series award, achieving a double crown.
