Number of Half-Price Parcel Deliveries Increased by 214.8%
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] It has been revealed that demand surged for half-price parcel delivery at convenience stores during this year's No Delivery Day period, gaining great popularity.
According to GS25 on the 16th, the number of half-price parcel deliveries used increased by 214.8% from the 13th to the 15th of this month. The usage of half-price parcel delivery grew by 143% in the first half of this year, and during last year's Chuseok and this year's Seollal holidays, it increased by 107.9% and 178.7%, respectively.
Half-price parcel delivery is a courier service that can be used at the lowest price in the country by utilizing GS25's own logistics infrastructure. Customers sending parcels visit a nearby GS25 to drop off their packages, and recipients can pick them up at a nearby GS25 as well. It is the only service in the country that offers delivery on public holidays and is cheaper than regular parcel delivery.
A GS25 representative said, “Interest in the affordable and convenient half-price parcel delivery is increasing every year,” adding, “With recent soaring inflation, its popularity is expected to grow even more.”
