Philosophy and Silhak Thought of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong?

Gangbuk-gu, Recruiting Students for the 22nd Dasan (茶山) Academy

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) is recruiting the 22nd class of students to participate in the lifelong learning program "Dasan (茶山) Academy" for residents.

"Dasan Academy" is a unique educational program exclusive to Gangbuk-gu, jointly operated by Gangbuk-gu and Seoul Cyber University Lifelong Education Center, where excellent university professors provide professional and high-quality lectures.

The education program consists of a total 12-week course including 10 lectures held every Thursday from September 15 at Seoul Cyber University, and 2 field trips (Suwon and Gangjin) to personally experience the life of Jeong Yak-yong, also known as Dasan. However, the schedule may change depending on the COVID-19 situation.

The lecture topics include ▲The life and philosophy of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong ▲Mokmin leadership ▲Dasan's poetic world ▲What is Silhak? ▲The economic thoughts and livelihood of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong, whose philosophy and Silhak ideas were recognized when he became the first Korean to be listed as a UNESCO World Commemorative Figure in 2012.

Anyone who is a resident of Gangbuk-gu or operates a business in Gangbuk-gu is eligible to enroll.

The tuition fee is 30,000 KRW, and those who wish to participate can apply by September 2 through the Gangbuk-gu website, by visiting (13 Dobong-ro 89-gil, 3rd floor, Education Support Division), or by phone to the Education Support Division of Gangbuk-gu Office.
