[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] Woo Sang-ho, Emergency Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 15th, "Some parties use young people as party leaders, exploit them, and then discard them like old shoes."
Woo made these remarks during a meeting with the Democratic Party's National Youth Party and National University Student Committee held at the National Assembly that afternoon.
Woo explained, "Unlike such bad customs, the Democratic Party will calmly breathe together with the youth, nurture them, and become a party that prepares for the future." This statement is interpreted as referring to former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok.
Woo also pointed out, "One concern has arisen. Suddenly, the word 'youth' has started to disappear within the Democratic Party," adding, "Candidates at the party convention and those who paid close attention to youth during the presidential and local elections are losing interest."
He continued, "This should not happen. We need to discuss how to become a source of hope for the youth again," emphasizing, "As Emergency Committee Chairman, I will engage in dialogue, and whoever becomes the leadership next must foster youth and build a party that works together with them."
