"Return with a More Mature and Seasoned Presence," a Sharp Rebuke
[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] Hong Joon-pyo, Mayor of Daegu, criticized former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok, saying, "The Lee Jun-seok syndrome no longer exists."
On the 15th, Mayor Hong stated on his Facebook, "A year ago, during the party convention, party members and the public created the Lee Jun-seok syndrome with a desperate desire to change something for regime change. But now that the regime has changed, I believe that both public and party sentiment is that everyone should unite to help the Yoon administration stabilize and succeed," he said.
He continued, "The political landscape changes constantly, but it is truly pitiful to see someone still stuck in last year's situation, throwing out reckless remarks and throwing tantrums," adding, "It's time to adapt to the new changes and return with a more mature and experienced demeanor."
Mayor Hong also said, "During the impeachment of the Park Geun-hye administration, it was easy to shake a declining regime, but the Yoon administration has just begun," and urged, "For the greater good (大義), abandon small gains (小利). This is nothing but a case of Danglang Geocheol (螳螂拒轍)." 'Danglang Geocheol' is a four-character idiom meaning 'a mantis trying to stop a chariot,' symbolizing someone who recklessly confronts a stronger opponent without considering their own strength.
