[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] A YouTuber with over 720,000 subscribers has been accused of committing fraud at a restaurant. It is alleged that they deliberately staged hair in the food to get a refund.
According to a KBS report on the 14th, recently YouTuber A visited a hamburger restaurant in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, with two companions.
After ordering and eating a hamburger set, they suddenly demanded a full refund for the entire menu. They claimed they were upset because hair was found in the food. They showed the staff a tissue with hair on it and demanded a refund before leaving.
However, the footage captured by the closed-circuit television (CCTV) told a different story. The CCTV video showed one of the group members suddenly reaching for a blanket hanging on a chair while eating. Then, he took something off the blanket and placed it on a tissue on the table.
It was later revealed that they had committed a similar act at the same restaurant a month earlier. At that time, after finishing their food, they also claimed to have found hair and demanded the same food again, which they ate. The restaurant owner told KBS that they only realized they had been deceived after reviewing the CCTV footage.
The police are reportedly moving to detain the group, suspecting habitual fraud.
Meanwhile, A is known as a YouTuber with over 720,000 subscribers. They usually upload vlog content, and currently, all comment sections on their YouTube channel are disabled.
