Baek Ilheon, New Deputy Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, Makes First On-Site Visit to Key Ongoing Projects


[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Baek Ilheon, Deputy Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, made his first visit to eight major project sites on the 11th.


Deputy Mayor Baek, who transferred to Gwangjin-gu on the 8th, embarked on his first field visit to quickly respond to disaster situations and understand district administration by inspecting facilities related to heatwaves, wind and flood damage, and COVID-19, as well as key project sites.


The facilities visited in relation to heatwaves, wind and flood damage, and COVID-19 included ▲ Junggok and Jayang rainwater pumping stations ▲ senior citizens’ cooling shelters in Junggok 2-dong and Jayang 2-dong ▲ Gwangjin Square COVID-19 temporary screening clinic.


Deputy Mayor Baek personally inspected the operational status of the facilities and said, “With record-breaking heatwaves and heavy rains continuing, concerns about the resurgence of COVID-19 are growing,” adding, “Please thoroughly prevent wind and flood damage and respond to the COVID-19 situation.”


Additionally, Deputy Mayor Baek visited the Jayang 1 District reconstruction site and the Jayang 1 Redevelopment Promotion Zone (KT site), which are major project locations, to check on the progress of construction.


After receiving explanations on the construction status at each site, Deputy Mayor Baek said, “Minimizing inconvenience to residents and prioritizing safety during construction is most important,” and urged, “Please make efforts to ensure smooth progress of construction according to the plan.”


Furthermore, Deputy Mayor Baek visited the Gwangjang-dong sports park site for the creation of an eco-friendly sports park and a multipurpose public complex facility operated with an eco-friendly system, taking time to review the progress of each project.


Baek Ilheon, Deputy Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, “In line with the policy direction of the 8th elected administration of Gwangjin-gu, which develops through communication, I will continue to communicate constantly with the field,” and added, “I will assist Mayor Kim Kyungho in leading the development of Gwangjin-gu.”
