[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) is expanding the non-face-to-face autonomous cleaning volunteer activity 'Seongbukcheon-gyeol (川潔)'.

'Seongbukcheon-gyeol (川潔)' is a non-face-to-face autonomous cleaning volunteer activity where any citizen who wants to volunteer can participate autonomously along Seongbuk Stream and Uicheon Stream, the streams in Seongbuk-gu.

Since April, the activity has been held every Wednesday and Saturday at Seongbuk Stream, with 76 volunteers participating in 27 sessions so far.

Due to the recent heavy rain, Seongbuk-gu has decided to expand the operation to include Uicheon Stream, planning to continuously conduct volunteer activities collecting trash from both Seongbuk Stream and Uicheon Stream.

Kwon** (Dongseon-dong, 26), who participated in the volunteer activity, said, "Through this volunteer activity, I realized that because someone cleaned the stream, many people can take walks in a clean environment and soothe their tired minds."

Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, "A lot of soil and debris accumulated around the streams due to the recent heavy rain, but the role of volunteers was significant in quickly completing the cleanup work. We will continue to prepare various programs that allow volunteers to participate easily and enjoyably."

To participate in 'Seongbukcheon-gyeol (川潔)', search for 'Seongbukcheon-gyeol (川潔)' on the 1365 Volunteer Portal and apply. During the volunteer activity, volunteers receive tongs and bags from the designated cleaning tool box, collect trash from the streams, dispose of it in the designated trash bins, and submit an activity reflection to receive volunteer hours credit.
