[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) held the 77th Liberation Day commemorative "Midsummer Night Concert" on the evening of the 12th at the outdoor plaza of Mangwoo Space in Jungnang.


This concert was planned to honor the noble spirit of sacrifice of the patriotic martyrs enshrined in Mangwoo History and Culture Park and to widely promote the historical and cultural significance of the park in commemoration of Liberation Day. With Taekwondo dance themed on liberation and songs by famous singers, it became a time for all generations to participate together.


Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, "I hope this time at Mangwoo History and Culture Park, where over 7,000 people including independence activists and cultural artists such as Yu Gwan-sun, Han Yong-un, and Bang Jeong-hwan rest, will bring joy and comfort of liberation." He added, "We will continue to cherish and cultivate this park on meaningful days with residents, reflecting on its historical significance and making it a treasure of the Republic of Korea."

Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Kang-soo) held the launch ceremony for the "Adding Art to Hongdae Street" project at Mapo-gu Office on the 12th.


This project, conducted by Mapo-gu and the Korea Living Arts Association, involves transforming dirty trash bins in the Hongdae area into works of art. By the end of this year, 37 local artists plan to turn public facilities in the Hongdae area into art pieces.


At the launch ceremony, Park Kang-soo, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "I am very excited to see what kind of artwork the trash bins on Hongdae Street will transform into through this project." He added, "If beautiful and stylish trash bins are placed throughout the streets, it will reduce littering and make Hongdae Street more pleasant. I hope the artists will fully demonstrate their abilities."

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the opening event of the "Masters of Contemporary Art Exhibition" held at the Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail Gallery in Hwarangdae Railroad Park, Gongneung-dong, at 5 p.m. on the 12th.


The "Masters of Contemporary Art Exhibition" is displayed at the gallery next to the Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail, a popular walking path for residents. Visitors can see 25 works including original prints by Korea’s representative contemporary artists such as Kim Chang-yeol, Kim Whanki, Park Seo-bo, Yoo Young-guk, and Lee Ufan.


The event proceeded with the attendance of Mayor Oh Seung-rok, members of the National Assembly, city councilors, and district councilors, including introductions of guests, greetings, and exhibition viewing.


The exhibition runs from August 12 to September 18. Visitors can view it for free at the Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail Gallery on weekdays from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. except Mondays, and on weekends from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.


Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, "This exhibition will be the first signal toward becoming a high-quality cultural city, Nowon." He added, "We will continue to attract high-level domestic and international exhibitions and performances so that the lives of Nowon residents can be enriched through diverse cultural experiences."
