[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] On the 13th, the number of new COVID-19 cases recorded was in the 120,000 range.


The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on that day, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 124,592. This is a decrease of 4,122 compared to the previous day. As a result, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 21,236,355.


The average daily number of new confirmed cases over the past week from the 7th to that day was 121,845. Among the new confirmed cases, 480 were imported cases, an increase of 16 from the previous day (464). Excluding imported cases, domestic community infections numbered 124,112.


The number of confirmed cases by region (including imported cases) was as follows: Gyeonggi 31,123, Seoul 21,859, Gyeongnam 7,764, Busan 7,660, Gyeongbuk 6,210, Incheon 6,108, Daegu 6,071, Jeonnam 5,392, Chungnam 5,227, Jeonbuk 4,802, Gwangju 4,396, Chungbuk 4,178, Gangwon 3,987, Daejeon 3,902, Ulsan 2,964, Jeju 1,874, Sejong 164, and quarantine 11.


The number of critically ill patients and deaths is also showing an upward trend. The number of critically ill patients was 469, an increase of 16 from the previous day (453). This is the highest number in 104 days since May 1 (493). The number of deaths reported the previous day was 67, which is 9 more than the day before (58). This is the highest number in 97 days since May 8 (71).


Accordingly, the cumulative number of deaths rose to 25,566. The cumulative fatality rate is 0.12%. The nationwide utilization rate of critically ill patient beds was 43.0% (770 out of 1,790 beds in use), up 2.2 percentage points (p) from the previous day (40.8%). The utilization rate of severe patient beds was 60.4%, down 0.2 percentage points from the previous day, and the utilization rate of moderate patient beds was 44.3%, up 0.9 percentage points.
