[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korea Forest Service announced on the 12th that it will conduct an emergency inspection of areas damaged by heavy rain and areas at risk of damage in the forest sector from the 12th to the 14th.
The inspection will be carried out with the participation of affiliated organizations such as the Korea Forest Service and the National Forest Management Office, the Korea Forest Welfare Promotion Institute, and the Korea Arboretum and Garden Management Institute.
The inspection targets include forest roads, timber harvesting sites, and multi-use forest facilities such as natural recreation forests and arboretums.
In particular, the Korea Forest Service plans to thoroughly inspect to prevent secondary damage caused by heavy rain in areas affected by landslides due to heavy rain and in spring large wildfire damage areas such as Uljin and Samcheok.
Nam Sung-hyun, head of the Korea Forest Service, said, “Recently, unpredictable weather conditions have continued nationwide, including the heaviest rainfall in 115 years in the Seoul area, so thorough preparation is important,” adding, “The Korea Forest Service will do its best to ensure public safety from forest damage such as landslides through emergency on-site inspections.”
