[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, is actively promoting policies to create safe villages led and participated by residents.
According to the county on the 12th, safety education visits are being conducted targeting aging villages classified as high-risk safety areas due to a lack of medical facilities and insufficient personnel capable of emergency treatment within the villages.
This safety education started on the 1st and will be conducted at 10 locations, targeting about 300 residents, until the 18th.
The main educational content focuses on safety accidents most frequently occurring in rural areas, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use of automated external defibrillators (AED), fire safety prevention and fire extinguisher usage, residential environment improvements to prevent elderly falls, and proper medication intake.
During this village visit safety education, residents of Imsil-gun aged 60 and over can also obtain a Silver Safety Instructor certification by participating in the senior safety expert training program.
Additionally, after completing 53 hours of practical safety training, they conduct sessions for village elders together with instructors from the Imsil 119 Safety Center.
Currently, due to many depopulated and aging villages, there is an urgent need for residents capable of emergency treatment such as performing CPR until the arrival of 119 Safety Center paramedics in cases of emergencies like cardiac arrest.
As part of the Agriculture and Fisheries Rural Job Plus Project, the Imsil-gun Village Development Council and Imsil Senior Club have signed a business agreement to discover rural-type senior job models and train senior professionals.
They are also enhancing residents' expertise by providing social welfare policy support and establishing elderly care infrastructure in the aging and impoverished rural areas.
County Governor Shim Min said, “Through training senior safety experts, we hope to actively utilize emergency response capabilities in medically underdeveloped rural areas so that my family and neighbors can live in a safe village.”
